How to get HES Code for tourists in Turkey?

This post is for how to get it.
- It would be best if you have a Turkish sim card or use a Turkish mobile phone*.
- Send an SMS to 2023
- Tourists who do not have a Turkish Republic or foreign identification number starting with 97, 98, 99: Type HES, your 3 character nationality code, passport serial number, year of birth, and last name. Leave a space between each item.
- Example: HES RUS 123456789 1981 ALEXEY
- Once you have submitted it, you will get the code back in a few seconds.
If you are not sure your nationality’s 3 character code you can check it from https://www.iban.com/country-codes
That’s it now you can register your HES code to your IstanbulKart from https://kisisellestirme.istanbulkart.istanbul/
- For foreign nationals with no domestic GSM number, HES Code can be received with passport information by sending an SMS to +90555 944 3821 including HES, nationality, passport serial number, year of birth and surname, respectively and with interspaces.
